Why participate?

Many Clinicians caring for surgical patients are challenged by the growing complexity of these patients, particularly their perioperative management.

Pre-admission clinics are responding, and perioperative medicine is becoming an emerging field and this course will address deficiencies in this area.

This course will be conducted by Monash University (Central Clinical School - Alfred Hospital), in conjunction with the Alfred Hospital's Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.



  •  Participants are required to review 12 Topics (one per week) and submit weekly Multiple Choice Questions for each topic
  •  Participants review the course material Online and there is no face-face interaction with lecturers or course coordinators.
  •  Available to trainees and consultants
  •  Allows for flexibility in work patterns – lectures and reading material can be viewed at own pace
  •  Suits participants who have a busy schedule
  •  No on-campus attendance required


Anyone who is interested in Perioperative Medicine with minimum MBBS can register for this course.

However we recommend participation is best suited for the following specialties

  •  6 Topics - First 6 weeks
  •  1 Week Mid-Course Break
  •  6 Topics - Second 6 weeks
  •    - 12 intractive topics include videos, podcasts, and MCQ assessments
